New School Hours and Traffic Flow for 2011-2012 Academic Year
Mandatory changes to ease congestion
At the new Santa Clara campus, we have worked closely with Santa Clara City Planning and the Santa Clara Police Department to ensure that we work in harmony with our neighbors during the morning and evening commute times and minimize traffic disruption for everyone, including our Carden parents. It is mandatory that the rules below are followed to ensure a safe environment for our children! Please set a good example for your children and others by following these rules. Otherwise, the administration will take steps to keep safety a high priority.
1. New School Hours
Grades 4-8: 8:10 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Preschool - Grade 3: 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
2. Do not park in the Faculty Parking Lot in the morning and afternoons
If you occupy a space that is assigned to faculty and staff, it causes delays for the instructors trying to get to a class that your child is attending. Faculty and staff members come and go at various times throughout the school day. There will be parking spots designated for pickup/dropoff 10 minute parking. We must keep the flow of traffic moving!
3. Do not turn left into the school from Homestead Road.
Vehicles traveling north on San Tomas Expressway must turn right on Forbes Ave, left on Los Padres, then left onto Homestead Road. The school will be on the right.
Vehicles traveling south on San Tomas Expressway must turn left on Benton, right on Los Padres, then right onto Homestead Road.
4. Do not cross lanes of traffic to attempt a left turn onto San Tomas Expressway when exiting the school.
Many cars full of waiting parents and children are rapidly building up behind you if you try to wait for a left turn opportunity. You are causing gridlock at the school! Please don't be that person.
The exit closest to San Tomas Expressway will be for those turning right onto northbound San Tomas Expressway.
The exit furthest from San Tomas Expressway will be for those continuing west on Homestead Road.
