Paragraph 1
Introduce your book, include the following:
- Title of book
- Author's (or editor's) full name
- The setting (country, place)
- The time (when, such as the century, etc.)
- The type of story (adventure, biography, mystery, survival, historical fiction, etc.)
- The main characters, and a brief, detailed description of the traits of character, personality, and/or disposition of each (perhaps one sentence per character)
Paragraph 2
- The summary of the plot (no details; five to ten sentences)
Paragraph 3
Evaluate the book:
- Your rating of the book ("excellent," "poor," "fair," "good," etc.), and why you liked or did not like it (Consider elements of humor, suspense, description, etc.) Give an example from the story for each element given.
Paragraph 4
Give the theme:
- What general ideas about life and the world did you gain from reading the book? Use the story to support your statements.
- How can you apply these ideas to your own life?
