French:

Classes are held 4 days a week for 25 minutes.
The textbook is French Is Fun and students begin with leçon 1, which adds a lot of new vocabulary, reviews the concept of le, la, I’, and pronunciation. The grammar also includes plurals and indefinite articles. Students learn how to conjugate “er” verbs. They learn numbers in the 100’s to 1,000. Students do activities in their books and continue with a notebook.
There is homework 3 nights a week.
Conversation becomes more advanced.
Emphasize: Listening comprehension
Students do a project from each lesson.

 

Art:

Fourth graders will work with drawing the human figure in different forms, including realistic and cartoon. They begin to study the proportions of the human body. Students will work in color and black and white. They learn, describe, and utilize negative and positive space. Their new learned skills in observation will be exercised in landscape drawing as well. Scratchboard will be introduced in this course.

Physical Education:

Continue to perform physical fitness activities developed in previous grades
Demonstrate knowledge of sports rules through game participation
Demonstrate good sportsmanship and encouragement of others in all activities
Participate in team activities
Perform the Presidential Physical Fitness Test

Computer:

Continue to build speed and accuracy in Keyboarding.
Continue to practice proper posture etc. when using the computer.
Begin to learn to use simple programming commands with the Logo Programming Language.
Continue to review and learn Basic Procedures in Microsoft Word.

By examining and identifying actual online requests for private information, learn to apply safety rules in cyberspace.
Learn that Internet users are citizens of a global community with the power to share ideas with people around the world.
Learn that, although the Internet makes it very easy, copying others' work and presenting it as one's own is unethical. They also learn about circumstances in which it is permissible to copy other’s work.
Begin to understand the proper way to document sources in a document, including sources for items found on the Internet.
Discuss how some Web sites are designed as advertising environments that entertain visitors while promoting advertisers' brands and products.
Record and compare the features of four children’s search sites and then construct a poster that will guide them in selecting appropriate search sites.
